Create Liferay Hook using Liferay IDE

Hi Folks,

Today I am going to cover, how we can create Liferay Hook using Liferay IDE. It's just a basic steps but it might be useful.

As we are going to use Liferay IDE first we need to setup Liferay IDE.

Liferay IDE install & Setup
Go through this blog in order to install Liferay IDE if you don't  have is already installed.


Create Liferay Hook
- First we need to create Liferay Hook Project. Select Eclipse's Liferay Perspective from Window --> Open Perspective --> Other --> Select Liferay.

- To create Liferay Hook Project, go to File --> New --> Liferay Project. It will open one wizard.
- Now give proper required parameter values.

• Project name - Your project name with out any post fix like hook, portlet, ext & theme. As it will be automatically added. Its recommended not to use space in your project name. User underscore(_) or hyphen(-) instead for separation.
• Display name - Your display name for your project.
• Liferay Plugins SDK - Just select your pre-configured Liferay Plugins SDK. Make sure if  you have more than one Liferay version Plugins SDK configured, then select appropriate version of Liferay Plugins SDK for which you are making Liferay Hook.
• Liferay Portal Runtime - Select your portal runtime from pre-configured list of runtimes.
• Plugin Type - For hook type, select "Hook".

- And just click on Finish and rest of the job will be done by Liferay IDE plugins. It will create Liferay Hook Project for you. You can check it in Project Explorer/Package Explorer.

- Now Liferay Hook project is created. Now based on for fulfilling which needs you've created this Hook your next steps differed.
